Closter's Dom Mircovich Memorial 5K - 45th Annual & Jim O'Halloran Kids Fun Run

Now in its 45th year, the 5k and Fun Run events will be held on its traditional Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Both events will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The Closter 5k is the longest running, continuous 5k in the Northern Valley. We've got the prettiest course around!

Please note that this year's town celebration ("NOT" Labor Day celebration) is scheduled for 6 September. See the Closter Recreation Commission site for more info. This year's town celebration will not coincide with the 5K and Fun Run.

SCHEDULE - September 6, 2026

8:00 am: Bib Pickup by basketball courts for those registered online (Note: There will be limited same day registration, but online registration is preferred.)
9:00 am: Jim O’Halloran Kids Fun Run (12 & Under)
9:30 am: Dom Mircovich Memorial 5K Walk/Run Race Start
10:30 am: Awards

Terrain: Mostly flat course around parks neighborhoods, and charming town center
Timing: Timing & scoring by Rock Race Timing
Water Stops: Multiple water stops

Fun Run Distance: The Fun Run distance is approximately 1k.

5K AWARDS

Overall Finishers: Top three male and female finishers overall
Age Groups: Five-year age groups: 10U to 80+ (10U, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc.)
Awards: Runners receive the highest award for which they are eligible. No multiple awards are given.
Parent-Child Teams: First three parent-child teams (Online sign up only. No day of team registration.)
Fastest Residents: Fastest Closter resident-male & female

AMENITIES

Fun Run: T-shirt and Tyvek bib to the first 50 Fun Run registrants, trophies to the top five girls and top five boys, ribbons to all participants, and post-fun run refreshments.
5K: Moisture wicking T-shirt to first 225 registrants, B-tag electronic timing, awards as described above, and post-event refreshments.

Early-Bird Pickup: 2pm - 5pm, Saturday 9/5/26 at Runners' House, River Vale, NJ
Registration Fee: Registration at Runners' House and on event-day will be $40.

Participant Shirts: Shirts are not guaranteed to walk-up registrants. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed.
Weather Policy: We run rain or shine, but not if there is a lightning warning. Updated info on the race status due to dangerous lightning can be found by calling 201.750.9507 mailbox 6 on the day of the race IF the weather is questionable.
