About this race
Race Overview
Massanutten is getting a major upgrade for 2027, with a true “choose your own adventure” format designed for every level of participant.
Course Options
- Beginner and Intermediate: Complete the scenic Western Slope trail system with flowing forest trails, steady climbs, and rugged Shenandoah terrain without the steepest descents.
- Advanced Challenge: An optional final segment along Massanutten’s ridgeline and ski slopes adds steeper elevation changes and a dramatic finish down the mountain.
- Planning: The advanced route is designed for experienced hikers and ruckers, with no aid stations along this final segment, so please plan accordingly.
- Weather Considerations: The advanced option will be available only in safe weather conditions and may close in the event of rain or wet terrain.
Distance and Medals
- Choose Your Distance: Options of 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles, to complete in 10 hours to earn the coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf Medal.
- Weighted Vest: Toss on a 10, 20, or 35-lb weighted vest or ruck to unlock bonus finisher swag and serious bragging rights.
- Course Marking: The course will be extremely well marked with fully stocked aid stations throughout!
