At the heart of the “Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Parks Edition” is an exciting costume contest that invites runners to fully embrace the spirit of Día de los Muertos. Before the race kicks off, participants gather at the starting area, showcasing their most creative and vibrant costumes.

- Kids Dash: A non-timed, around 20-yard dash for kids 10 and under, includes a tee shirt, race medal, and exclusive recognition pin.
- 1 Mile: Designed for all ages, includes a tee shirt and race medal.
- 5K: Chip-timed 3.11 miles, featuring awards for top finishers in various categories.
- Quarter Marathon: Chip-timed 6.55 miles, with awards similar to the 5K.
- Half Marathon: Chip-timed 13.1 miles, features overall awards and age group recognition.

- Age Group Awards: Standard age group awards include 1st overall M/F trophies and recognition pins for master’s categories.
- Overall Awards: Top performers in various age categories receive gold, silver, and bronze pins.
- Special Recognition: Awards are given for ten different age categories, promoting inclusivity.

- Packet Pickup: 6:30-7:45am.
- Kids Dash Start: 7:55am.
- National Anthem and Race Start: 8:00am.
- Live Results & Awards: Available at the Registration tent immediately following your finish.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer then Run includes a custom chip-timed bib, super soft tee, and an awesome finisher medal! Volunteers help with packet pickup before race start and can then participate in any distance run offered during the event.
- Full Race Volunteering: Sign up under the "VOLUNTEER" tab and earn a Bigfoot race shirt, medal, and a choice of free race entry to a future event or a $20 gift card.
- Course Monitors: Help redirect traffic and guide participants while cheering them on.
- Aid Station Volunteers: Provide hydration and maintain a clean course.
- Early Arrival: Volunteers should arrive 1.5 hours before start time.
Race Conduct
Bigfoot races proceed rain, shine, hot, or cold. Packet pickup is available 1.5 hours before the event start time, with any additional pickups communicated via email in advance.
Bigfoot Running Company typically holds races in parks and on green belts, making every attempt to stay on paved trails, but mixed surfaces should be expected.
