History
- Inception: In 1993, the Nassau Police Running Club held a 5K run in memory of Nassau County Police Officer Gary R. Farley who tragically died in the line of duty.
- First Loss: PO Farley was the first officer to lose his life in the line of duty since the inception of the Nassau Police Running Club in 1980.
- Ongoing Commitment: Since 1993, the Nassau County Police has tragically lost many additional members who were serving the people they were sworn to protect.
- Vow to Remember: The Nassau Police Running Club has vowed to ensure that these officers' lives would not be lost in vain and is committed to keeping their memory alive.
Scholarships
- Annual Event: The Nassau County Police Officer Memorial Run is held annually.
- Proceeds: Proceeds from the run will be used to present scholarships in the names of our fallen officers.
- Eligibility: These scholarships will be presented to graduating high school seniors attending secondary education.
- Running Clubs: Recipients must be involved in their school's running clubs.
