🎄 Race Overview

Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend and the lighting of Christmas Mountain in Salida with a 5 mile and 1 mile race! The 5 mile course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida.

Course: Scenic and mostly flat (around 160 feet of elevation gain) on city and county roads and gravel or concrete pedestrian paths.
Inclusivity: Designed for all runners: all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
Login: Packet pickup, post race drinks and snacks, and awards in Riverside Park.
Date and Time: 2025-11-28 at 10am.

🎉 Post-Race Festivities

After the race, relax with friends and family before the lighting of Christmas Mountain.

Parade: Annual Christmas Mountain parade begins at 6pm.
Fireworks: Followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
Celebration: One of Salida's biggest and most celebratory nights each year.
Community: Encourages health, fitness, fun, and community connection around the holiday.

🏆 Awards and Prizes

The goals of the event include offering competitive racing opportunities and raising money for a local foundation.

Prize Money: Offered to the top finishers: top 3 M/F overall ($150/$100/$75).
Masters Prize: $100 to the first place M/F masters runner.
Community Fundraising: Supporting Chaffee County Community Foundation.
Age Categories: Open to all participants, from young to seasoned runners.

🏃‍♂️ 1 Mile Run Details

There will also be a one mile run, beginning at approximately 10:05am.

Course: Participants will run down Sackett Avenue, turn around after 1/2 mile, and head back to the finish line.
Timing: This race will be timed.
Participant Ribbons: All competitors will receive a participant ribbon.
Snacks: Post-race snacks are included.
