Andy Payne Rt 66 Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 5K, Fun Run and Virtual Run

The Andy Payne Rt 66 Race is extending the run this year to include a marathon in addition to our previous years schedule of Half Marathon, 5K, Fun Run and Virtual Run. The races honor Cherokee Nation citizen Andy Payne, who won the International Trans-Continental Footrace, commonly referred to at the Bunion Derby, in 1928. The race covered a total of 3,423 miles along Route 66 from Los Angeles to New York City.

This year's Marathon will start at the Claremore Museum of History, run to the Andy Payne Memorial Park Statue in Foyil and then turn around and run back to the museum. The marathon is truly historical in that this race is the only race that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation allows any state highway to be closed for the participants. The opportunity to run down the legendary "Mother Road" is truly a rare opportunity.

The Half Marathon will start at the Andy Payne Memorial Park and end at the Claremore Museum of History (MoH). The 5K will start at Claremore Lake and likewise end at the MoH. The Fun Run will occur at the Andy Payne Race Track at Claremore High School.

The Awards Ceremony at the MoH will be a fun-filled event with free massages for runners, nutritious drinks, food trucks, selfie spots, popcorn, snacks and more! Visitors can view the Andy Payne Exhibit inside and take a photo with the Andy Payne statue in our new Legacy Gardens. Thank you for joining us this year at the Andy Payne Route 66 races!

The course is USATF sanctioned and certified with electronic timing by Tatur Racing. Participation medals will be awarded to paid participants in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K, Fun Run and Virtual Run. The swag bags are epic and the vintage Andy Payne Bunion Derby jersey has become a runner favorite.
