Run For It!

Event Overview

Are you looking for a way to make a positive impact on your community while staying active and healthy? Look no further than the Run For It program, developed by the Tucker Community Foundation in 2007. This program encourages participation in healthy activities while raising much-needed support and awareness for non-profit organizations, civic organizations, and charities in our ten-county region of West Virginia and Maryland.

Team Participation

• Join Teams: Join one of the many teams representing non-profit and charitable organizations.
• Fundraising Opportunities: Take advantage of three opportunities to raise support through the program: entry fees, team sponsorship, and race day awards.
• Entry Fee Contribution: Half of the $12.00 entry fee goes towards your chosen cause.
• Sponsor Donations: Team sponsors can donate any amount to any number of causes, with all sponsor donations going directly toward your team's cause.

Awards System

• Initial Funding: The Foundation provides initial funding for the race awards purse.
• Sponsor Support: Sponsors supplement these awards, resulting in 100% cash awards for teams across numerous categories.
• Cash Awards: Participants can earn cash awards based on performance and team efforts.
• Categories: Awards are available across numerous categories to encourage friendly competition.

Community Impact

• Support Causes: By participating in Run For It, you'll be supporting a wide range of causes that make a difference in our community.
• Variety of Support: Causes include the arts, animal welfare, challenged athletes, charities, churches, civic organizations, and many others.
• Emergency Services: Contributions also assist educational activities, environmental causes, historic preservation, and medical programs.
• Youth Programs: Efforts support youth organizations, senior citizen programs, and community improvement projects.

Event Details

The annual Run For It campaign begins on April 1, 2026, and culminates with a 2k walk and 5k walk/run on September 26, 2026, in Davis, WV, during the annual Leaf Peeper's Festival.
