Race Overview
Join us for a meaningful 5K Family Fun Walk/Run dedicated to raising awareness about the life-saving importance of working smoke detectors in every home.
Every year, lives are lost due to preventable fire incidents. Early detection saves lives—and something as simple as a functioning smoke detector can make all the difference.
Purpose of the Event
- Objective: Together we can Honor the Flame and Protect Every Life.
- Fire Awareness: Let’s come together and raise money to help keep our community safe.
- Tragic Reminder: Diane Luikart lost her life in a tragic house fire. The fire began in her bedroom in the early morning hours, around 5:50 a.m.
- Importance: A working smoke detector can mean the difference between life and loss.
Event Beneficiaries
All proceeds from this event will benefit:
- Delaware County American Red Cross: Tragic Loss Program
- Tri-Township Fire Department: of Delaware County
- Mission: Your participation helps these organizations continue their mission of providing free smoke detectors to families.
- Community Impact: Ensuring safer homes and stronger communities.
Race Day Details
- Packet Pick Up: Will be held on race day starting at 7:00am.
- Route Details: The 5k route will start and finish at the Dragonfly Day Camp inside High Banks Metro Park.
- Entrance: Enter on the north side of the park off Powell Road.

Final Thoughts
Our mission is to honor Diane’s memory, along with all those affected by tragic fires, by raising awareness and helping prevent future tragedies.
