Race Details

• Location: 614 W Shore Rd, Bristol, NH
• Registration Packet: Includes entry to the race of your choice, a race cap, finisher medal, and a SWAM commemorative swim cap.
• T-shirts: Available for sale at the event or earned by fundraising.

Distances and Prerace Meeting

• Prerace Meeting: Required at 07:00.
• 1K: Individual Swim
• 5K: Individual Swim
• 5K: Memorial Team Swim (Not Timed)*
• 10K: Individual Swim
• 10K: Relay (Teams of 3-5 swimmers)

*Participants will take turns pulling a memorial/remembrance kayak one at a time. This is not a competitive swim and will not be timed. A support boat will be provided to carry swimmers while not pulling the kayak. Total distance is 5K for the entire team. David Ball (Captain of the Memorial swim) will contact you before race day with details.

Swimmer Qualifications

• Health: Must be in good health and capable of completing the swim distance.
• Time Limit: Strong enough swimmer to complete the race in under 4 hrs and 15 minutes.

US Masters Sanctioned Race

• Membership: All swimmers over the age of 18 MUST be US Masters Members.
• One Event Memberships: Available for registration at $20.
• Member Participation: Enter your membership number during registration if already a member.
• Series Eligibility: You will be eligible for a special US Masters swimming series.

Recognition & Awards

• Awards: Presented to top 3 men and women in each individual distance category and top 3 relay teams.
• Special Awards: Given to fastest overall swimmers in each distance.
• Fundraiser Recognition: Top fundraisers will receive special recognition.
• Participation Recognition: For swimmers who have participated in all 10 years of SWAM!

General Rules and Details for All Swimmers

• Assistive Devices: Not allowed; disqualification will occur from placing in all races.
• Open Water Safety: Buoys are allowed.
• Headphones: Not permitted during the race.
• Nutrition: Bring your own as all swimmers have different needs.
• Wetsuit Rules: USAT Wetsuit rules apply.

Water Temp and Wetsuit Guidelines

• Wetsuit Eligibility: Allowed if water temperature is 78 degrees or lower.
• Temperature Limit: If between 78.1-83.9 degrees, wetsuits allowed but not eligible for awards.
• No Wetsuits: Not allowed if temperature is 84 degrees or above.
• Announcement: Water temperature will be announced a couple of days prior to the event.

1K, 5K, and 10K Individual Swim Details

• Beach Start: Timing chips must go over start/finish.
• Course: Out and back (see map).
• Direction: Swim in clockwise direction; always stay on the left of buoys.
• Support: Boats stationed at turnarounds with water and food.
• Paddlers: Will be along the course for safety and support; registration required via Volunteer Registration.

10K Team Relay Details

• Beach Start: One timing chip per team, transferred between swimmers.
• Non-swimming Members: Must stay on the beach.
• Lap Definition: Each lap equals .31 miles or .5K (20 laps equal 10K).
• Timing Pad: Swimmer must cross start/finish time pad at the beginning of each lap.
• Team Obligations: Every swimmer needs to swim at least one lap.
• Support: Paddlers will be present along the route for safety.
