Event Overview

Join us for the first-ever Salty Santa 5K, a one-of-a-kind holiday adventure 650 feet underground at Strataca.

This festive underground run is packed with Christmas spirit, nostalgia, and a little underground magic. Imagine the excitement of Christmas morning, the charm of holiday traditions, and the thrill of exploring a salt mine—all rolled into one unforgettable experience.

Costume Guidelines

• Costumes: Highly encouraged!
• Suggestions: Break out the Santa suits, ugly Christmas sweaters, reindeer antlers, elf costumes, holiday pajamas, or your favorite vintage Christmas-inspired attire.
• Theme: The more festive, the better!

Unique Race Experience

This Isn’t Your Average 5K. This unique course takes you through the cool, dimly lit tunnels of an active salt mine, creating a holiday experience unlike any other.

Participant Requirements

• Essentials: A helmet (bike helmets work great).
• Lighting: A flashlight or headlamp.
• Inspection: Helmets are required and will be inspected before entry.

Rewards

🎁 The first 150 registered participants will receive a commemorative Salty Santa 5K T-shirt and Finisher Medal!

Once the 150-medal limit has been reached, additional registrations may not include a medal. T-shirt sizes may become limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at check-in.

Important Details

• Age Requirement: No participants under age 8.
• Accompaniment: Ages 8–18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Starting Heat: Select your starting heat during registration. Each heat is limited to 30 participants.
• Timing: Run or walk at your own pace. Walkers are encouraged to choose an earlier heat.
• Finishing Time: Participants remaining on the course after 12:00 PM may be transported to the finish line.
• Fun Run: This is a fun run. Clocks will be available at the start and finish for self-timing.
• Arrival: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled heat to pick up your race packet. Late arrivals may be moved to the final available heat.
