Join us in Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, for the second annual Lake Waccamaw State Park Fatmucket Walk, Run & Ruck! There is a distance for everyone!
- 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk: This event is not timed. You can run or walk the 2 miles.
- 5K Trail Run: This event is timed. You can run or walk.
- 10K Trail Run: This event is timed. You can run or walk.
- 5K Ruck: Male Ruckers must carry 20-pound non-consumable weight and 10 pounds for females. This event is not timed. There is a 1-hour time limit.
- 10K Ruck: Male Ruckers must carry 20-pound non-consumable weight and 10 pounds for females. This event is not timed. There is a 2-hour time limit.

To register, just click on the Sign Up button in the top right. Online registration closes 20 minutes before the event starts. If you register at Packet Pickup or Onsite on Race Day, you will be asked to scan a QR Code with your phone and register digitally.
🌊 ABOUT LAKE WACCAMAW STATE PARK
Lake Waccamaw is an 2,938-acre enigma, the oldest lake in North Carolina and the second-largest lake in the state. You will determine how you think the lake was formed according to who you talk to.
- Native American Theories: Before European settlers arrived, the Waccamaw-Siouan Native American Tribe had a couple of theories about the lake's formation.
- Legend of the Warrior: One legend tells of a love-stricken warrior who was denied marriage by a princess, resulting in a transformation of the garden into a lake.
- Scientific View: Scientists believe the lake is one of the landforms in the southeast region known as 'Carolina Bays.'
- Explore the Park: The Lake Waccamaw State Park is perfect for exploring and offers boardwalks, trails, primitive camping, and more!
