5K at the Fair

Race Overview

• Event: Inaugural 5K at the Fair
• Date: August 8, 2026
• Time: Check in starts at 8 AM, race begins at 8:30 AM
• Location: La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave, Durango, CO

Race Details

• Course: Runners and walkers will head south on the Animas River Trail for 1.55 miles
• Turnaround: Participants will turn around at the fire department
• Finish: The finish line is back at La Plata County Fairgrounds
• Environment: This is a Zero Waste event: participants are encouraged to carry their own water

Event Format

• Type: Fun run/walk format
• Timing: No chip timing or prizes
• Giveaways: Awesome giveaways for all participants!
• Proceeds: All proceeds benefit La Plata County 4-H

After the Race

• End Time: The race will conclude by 10:00 AM
