Katie Welling Memorial 2.5 Mile Run/Walk

Event Overview

The 2025 Katie Welling Memorial Run/Walk will be an in-person event on the morning of Saturday, November 29. Participants will meet at the front of the Bronxville School, 177 Pondfield Rd. Check-in will be open from 8 to 8:45 AM, and the race will start at 9 AM. Katie's Run/Walk is a 2.5 mile race.

About Katie Welling

• Date of Incident: April 10, 2005
• Legacy: Katie, a 2002 BHS graduate, died in an off-campus fire at Miami University in Ohio. She had just turned 21.
• Impact of Tragedy: While we all continue to struggle in our own way to cope with this tragedy, it has become abundantly clear that togetherness helps us heal.
• Commemoration: Her friends have organized the annual Katie Welling Memorial Run/Walk to honor her memory.

Honoring Tom Welling

We also remember Tom Welling, Katie's father, who passed away in 2022. Tom led us in planning this special event for fifteen years and was an incredible friend and asset to the Bronxville community.

Virtual Participation

• Dates: Participate virtually by running, walking, or biking anytime from November 15 through 30.
• Activities: Walking or running on a treadmill or riding on a stationary bike at home are also great ways to participate.
• Registration: There is no registration fee for virtual participation, but a tax-deductible contribution would be welcomed.
• Photo Submission: If you participate virtually, please consider taking a picture and sending it to the Bronxville School Foundation at bsfoundation@bronxvilleschool.org.

In-Person Participation

• Fee: The registration fee for the in-person event is $25 through November 28, and $30 to register on the day of the event.
• Deadline: Online registration for in-person participation closes at noon on Wednesday, November 26.

  • Saturday, November 29, 8 AM - 8:45 AM at the Bronxville School, 177 Pondfield Rd, Bronxville, NY
• Payment Options: Payment in person may be made by cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.

Virtual Participation

• Fee: There is no registration fee to participate virtually, but a tax-deductible contribution is welcomed.
• Deadline: Online registration for virtual participation closes at noon on Wednesday, November 26.
• Donation: You may still donate after November 26.
• Photo Submission: Please send your virtual participation photo to bsfoundation@bronxvilleschool.org.

All proceeds from Katie's Run/Walk will benefit the Bronxville School Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the quality of the education at the Bronxville School where Katie spent so many happy years.
