About this race

Event Overview

The Gorey Hollows features some of the SKOV (Southwest Kingdom of Vermont’s) most scenic (and gnar) ATB riding. Plus ya know, Class 4 roads which are dirt roads that are not generally maintained and sorta left to fall to pieces. Poultney’s road maintenance budget is basically non-existent, so our class 4 roads are wonderfully terrible. Expect wash outs, ‘gravel’ the size of GMO grapefruits, steep hike a bike grades and wonderful views. The ride weaves in and out of the woods and farmlands. Plenty of climbing but lots of great eye candy, like cows and red barns.

Ride Options

  • Classic 90 Mile ATB Race: A brutal challenge with rocky class 4 roads and extended hike a bike sections.
  • 60 Mile Scramble: Pick any two of the ATB race loops.
  • Ramble: Choose any one of the ATB race loops.
  • Amble Ride: For those wanting to enjoy the season change without tackling major climbs.
  • Just Hanging Out: A permanent option for non-riders to enjoy coffee, donuts, and dinner.

Event Details

  • Self-Navigated Routes: You'll receive a GPS track and notes, but no sag or medical support.
  • Rain or Shine: All Analog events are held regardless of weather.
  • Fees Include: Dinner for racers: coffee and donuts for others.
  • Camping Registration: This year through hip camp: expect group discounts.

Choose Your Own Adventure

In the spirit of Choose Your Own Adventure books (originally published in Vermont!), you decide your destiny. Three possible loops are available. Racers must complete all three, choosing the order, while scramblers select any two, and ramblers pick one. Loops start and end at the sugar house HQ for refueling and restocking.

Event Routes

  • The Amble: Approximately 15 miles, includes a mix of surfaces, ideal for various bikes.
  • The Ramble: About 30 miles, includes dirt roads, plenty of climbing, and requires decent tire size.
  • The Scramble: Roughly 60 miles, difficult, and riders should prepare to possibly finish after dark.
  • The Race: 90ish miles with about 13,000 feet of climbing, combining challenging terrains.

2026 Race Rules

  • Equipment Restrictions: No aero bars, suspension components, or e-bikes allowed for podium finish.
  • Time Cuts: Mandatory limits to ensure a timely finish.
  • One Bike Policy: No swapping bikes during the event.
  • Rest and Refuel: Racers can take breaks at Analog HQ between loops.
  • Mandatory Check-in: Required after every loop.

About the Gorey Hollows

The Gorey Hollows is a different kind of ride. No ride leaders, no sag wagon: it's more like a free for all with a common course and goal. These roads are often impassable. You'll need a cue sheet and GPS track to navigate. Expect limited cell service during the ride.

Pre Ride Information

Racers: arrive at 4:00 AM, race starts at 5:00 AM. Scramblers leave at 8:00 AM, Ramblers at 10:00 AM, and Amblers at 11:00 AM. Donuts and coffee will be available at 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM.

Equipment Requirements

  • Walking Shoes: Sturdy for the ride.
  • Low Gearing: Suitable for climbing steep grades.
  • Repair Supplies: Spare tubes and tire boots are essential.
  • Navigation: GPS or phone with backup battery recommended.
  • Tire Size: At least 1.75"/44mm: wider tires are advisable.

Post Ride Festivities

Join us for fire pit hangs at the old Analog Sugar House. Cheer on racers and enjoy an Autumn Feast provided by Poultney Pub. Expect refreshments, but it's mainly a BYOB affair. Camping options will be available.
