Event Details

• Description: Get ready to embrace the elements at the Winter Triathlon Challenge! This one-of-a-kind race combines endurance, grit, and fun as athletes conquer three back-to-back winter sports disciplines.

Race Format

• Ski: 5k SKATE ski
• Bike: 10K fat-tire bike ride across frosty terrain
• Run: 5K winter trail run through snow-packed paths
• Note: Duathlon is only the Bike and then run portion of this event

Who Can Participate?

• Athletes: Individuals of all experience levels (from first timers to seasoned triathletes)
• Relay Teams: 2–3 athletes splitting the disciplines
• Solo Competitors: Ready to take on the full challenge

Registration Includes

• Finisher Medal: Custom Winter Triathlon Finisher Medal
• Insulated Water Belt: To the first 50 people who register
• Post-Race Snacks: Warm snacks & hot beverages
• Timing: By Forbush, with aid stations at transition area

Schedule

• Packet Pickup: 3/6/26 - Location TBD. Time TBD.
• Race Transition Open: 3/7/26 TBD
• Race Start: 3/7/26 10am (Duathlon starts at 10:30am)
• Awards Ceremony: 12pm near the Yurt

Awards

• Overall Winners: Top overall Male & Female
• Age Group Winners: Top Age Group Winners (10-year brackets)
• Relay Teams: Excluded from overall awards: each member receives a finisher medal

Weather Policy

This is a true winter race—we go in snow, shine, or flurries! In the event of dangerous weather, organizers reserve the right to adjust course distances or course layout to maintain athlete safety. This is a Nonrefundable race.

Extended Bonus

We have again partnered up with our sister Tri-The Abominable Snow Tri! 2/22/26. Do both races and get 3 medals! Just an additional $10 to register as part of the Abominable Snow Tri Race and then sign up separately for Tri45.

• XC Ski Rental: Forbush offers XC Ski rentals for $25. XC ski Rentals
• Bike Rental: Latitude 45 offers $50 rentals (Thursday evening - Saturday afternoon). Bike rental, Use CODE tri45.
• Fat Bike Rentals: North Bound outfitters offers day rentals for $40. Call 989-348-8558 and mention Tri 45 to reserve a bike.
