March 6th 2027: Gaylord All Outdoors Tri 45 USA Triathlon Winter National Championship - TRI THE COLD!

What is this all about?

• Winter Triathlon: The snow-season evolution of traditional triathlon: run → bike → ski, performed entirely on winter terrain.
• Challenge: Born from athletes who wanted a multisport challenge year-round.
• Global Growth: Recognized by World Triathlon and USA Triathlon.
• Eligibility: This race is open to everyone (USAT membership is required).

Who is Tri 45?

• Organization: Michigan-born nonprofit race organization dedicated to winter multisport opportunities.
• Founded: Established in 2021 by athletes wanting a winter triathlon in the U.S.
• Leadership: Leading winter triathlon event in the country.

Event Schedule

• Expo & Packet Pickup: March 5th 2027 (Location & Time TBD)
• Free Comedy Show: Tommy McClellan-Willard: Laugh and run - 3/5/27 @ 8pm @ Snowbelt Brewery - located Downtown Gaylord MI.
• Transition Opens: 10am - 11:40am
• Triathlon Start: 12pm on March 6th 2027

Triathlon - 5k Run / 10k Bike / 5k Ski & Duathlon - 5k Run / 5k Ski

Weather Policy

Snow, shine, ice, or flurries — we race. If conditions become unsafe, course distances or layout may be adjusted. This is a non-refundable event. If cancellation becomes necessary, we will reschedule as soon as possible. If there’s no skiable snow → Run • Bike • Run format will be used.

Rentals

• XC Ski Rentals: Forbush Corners $25 • Fully waxed skis • Includes boots & poles • Call (989) 889-2843 to reserve your size.
• Fat Bike Rentals: Latitude 45 (Petoskey): Pending agreement • 8 bikes
• Additional Rentals: Other locations for rentals pending.

Regulations Sizing

• SKIs: Predominantly Freestyle: Courses are generally groomed for freestyle technique.
• FAT Tire Bikes: Minimum "Fat" Width: To comply with winter tri regulations tires must be 3.8 inches or wider.
• Competition: You will not be allowed to compete in the Triathlon with anything under a tire size of 3.8.
