Thunderbolt Youth Triathlon

Event Overview

• Event: Thunderbolt Youth Triathlon
• Date: 2026-09-26
• Location: 2900 Martin Luther King Parkway, Sierra Vista, AZ
• Age Range: Kids ages 5-17 years old

Race Distances

• 5-10 year olds: 50 yd swim, 3 mile bike, .5 mile run
• 11-17 year olds: 200 yd swim, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run
• Awards: Age group winners, overall winners, top relay teams
• Timing: Split timing for each leg of the race, including swim, T1, bike, T2, run

Participant Experience

• Goal: Encourage kids to be more active and engage in triathlon
• Finish Line: Participants will receive overall and split times, t-shirt, challenge coin, and race bag
• Team Options: Participate as an individual or as part of a Relay Team
• Support: Well-supported by volunteers, sponsors, and community with food, drinks, and a water feature finish

Age Group Policies

• Placement: Based on age on December 31 of the current year
• Eligibility: 17 year olds turning 18 in the year of the race are not eligible
• New Participants: 4 year olds turning 5 by December 31 are eligible to race
• USAT Rule: Ensures consistency and fairness in age grouping
