Post Office Cafe's 35th Annual 5K Run & 1K Fun Run

Event Overview

Thank you for participating in the National MPS Society Run/Walk, and Post Office Cafe's 35th Annual 5K & 1K Fun Run. This event will raise awareness and funds for the National MPS Society.

Community Celebration

In our community, the Walk/Run will be held at the Post Office Cafe in celebration of Mark and Casey Lessing.

• Honoring Memory: Mark lost his 20 year battle with the disorder MPS IIIA.
• Remembering Casey: His sister Casey passed away July, 2016 at the age of 24.
• About MPS: MPS and related diseases are genetic disorders that affect major organs in the body, including the respiratory system, heart, bones, and nervous system.
• Impact: Affecting mostly children, it is caused by the body's inability to produce certain enzymes.

Importance of the Cause

There are hundreds of children around the country waiting for a treatment and eventually a cure for these rare, progressive, and deadly diseases.

Mission of the National MPS Society

• Support: The National MPS Society's mission is to provide support for individuals and their families affected by MPS or ML.
• Awareness: Our goals are to increase public and professional awareness.
• Research: We aim to support research initiatives.
• Ultimate Goal: The Society's ultimate goal is to find a cure for MPS disorders.
