SRC Presents: A Backyard Ultra

2026 Date: December 12th

Event Overview

• Running Culture: Long Island has a rich and deep running culture with multiple events every weekend to choose from.
• Unique Opportunity: This event provides an opportunity for those that enjoy ultra or trail running to participate.
• Beneficiary: A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, who help maintain the trails on Long Island.
• Race Format: A backyard ultra is about endurance, not speed, with participants running 4.167 miles every hour on the hour.

Course Details

• Completion Requirement: Participants must complete the distance in each hour or be eliminated from the race.
• Final Competitor: The last person to complete a full loop will be declared the winner.

Bib Pick Up

• Bib Assignment: Bib numbers will be assigned at check-in.
• Early Pick Up: Early pick-up available from Smithtown Running Company on December 10th (11 am - 7 pm) and December 11th (11 am - 5 pm).
• Race Day: Bib pick-up on race morning starts at 6:30 am from the start/finish line area.
• Important Note: There will be no on-site sign-ups on the morning of 12/12 at Blydenburgh County Park.

Refunds and Deferments

• No Refunds: There are no refunds for this event: event insurance is recommended if issues arise.
• Deferral Policy: Participants can defer their spot for one year if they cannot attend, with guaranteed entry for the next year.
