Location: Spring Hill Cemetery Park and Arboretum, Charleston, WV

Join us for a unique trail run or hike through history and nature, benefiting the Mary Price Ratrie Arboretum located right within the cemetery grounds.

About the Event

• Route: A short but challenging 4-mile-ish route with over 800 ft of elevation gain.
• Scenery: Traverse green lanes, single-track woodland boundary trails, and open ridge tops featuring stunning views up and down the Kanawha Valley.
• Wildlife: Keep an eye out for local wildlife like deer and box turtles.
• History: Historic monuments honoring individuals who shaped Charleston’s rich history.

Hiker Special

All registered hikers will receive an informative guide highlighting key points of interest and historical monuments along the course!

• Custom Event Sticker: All participants receive a 3-inch Holographic Ratrie Arboretum sticker featuring original digital artwork by Stacie Bowman.

Race Awards & Age Groups

• Awards: Presented to the 1st Place Male & Female finishers in overall and age group categories.
• Overall 1st Place: $25 Adelphia Sports Bar Gift Card, $25 Taylor Books Gift Card, and a Stacie Bowman Arboretum Print.
• Age Group Categories: Stacie Bowman Arboretum Print for first-place finishers.
• Categories: 14 & Under, 15–18, 19–25, 26–35, 36–45, 46–55, 56–65, Seniors (66+).

Schedule & Day-of Details

• Location: Spring Hill Cemetery Administration Building (Start & Finish).
• Check-in: 1:00 PM - Race Number collection and On-Site Registration open.
• Closure: 1:45 PM - Registration and Race Number pickup close.
• Start Time: 2:00 PM - Race & Hike Start Time!

Parking & Logistics

Signage and stewards will direct participants to designated parking at the East and West gates (up to a 1/2-mile walk to the start line). Carpooling from Laidley Field is encouraged.

Registration & Entry Fees

• Online Registration: $25 (Online registration closes Oct 20).
• Day-of Registration: $35 (Cash or Check only: please arrive at 1:00 PM).

Giving Back

After event expenses, 100% of proceeds go directly to the Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park & Arboretum for future tree planting and maintenance in the Mary Price Ratrie Arboretum. This 501(c)(3) non-profit works in cooperation with the City of Charleston to preserve, enhance, and develop this historic space for the entire community.
