About Mike Walsh

• Legacy: In March of 2003, Mike Walsh’s life was cut short after a courageous fight with brain cancer.
• Community Contributions: His family has donated funds for new uniforms, bleachers, sound systems, and chromebooks at Bement High School.
• Student Support: The scholarship 5K has helped 13 student athletes continue their sports careers at the college of their choice.
• Future Plans: We are looking into purchasing new shot clocks for Walsh Gymnasium for the 2026 basketball season.

Mike's Involvement with Bement High School

• Service: Mike served on the school board for 10 years and was an active member of the Bement Athletic Booster Association.
• Coaching: He volunteered as a coach for the girls’ basketball program and introduced girls’ softball at Bement High School.
• Honors: The gymnasium was renamed in his honor to Walsh Gymnasium due to his contributions.
• Annual Event: Every December, the school hosts a Mike Walsh Memorial Basketball tournament in his name.
