Race of Champions

What is the Race of Champions?

• Definition: Champion is defined as a person who fights or argues for a cause or on behalf of someone else.
• Purpose: The 5th Annual Race of Champions, formerly known as the Ken Brumbaugh Memorial Run, is a celebration of all people who have overcome challenges in life.
• Memory of Ken: In keeping with the memory of Ken, a courageous cancer survivor and enthusiastic member of the local running community, we invite all people to participate and champion for themselves and loved ones to kick off the running season.
• Event Date: This event will take place on March 28, 2026.

Registration

• T-shirts: The first 350 participants are guaranteed a long sleeve t-shirt. Please register early to guarantee yourself a t-shirt as we cannot guarantee t-shirts the week of the race.
• Bib Requirement: Racers must wear race number to show that you are a race participant.
• Color Bib: You will have a certain color bib pertaining to what race you are participating in.
• No Changes: If you want to change races, you may do so by calling the Blair Regional YMCA at 695-4467 before race day. NO CHANGES ON RACE DAY!

Race Packet Pick-Up

• Before the Race: Race packets will be available at the Blair Regional YMCA Thursday, March 27th from 12:00pm to 8:30 pm and Friday, March 28th from 5:00am to 7:00pm.
• Day of the Race: Race packets are available for pick up at Blair Candy, Altoona PA from 6:30 to 7:45am.

Course Information

• 5K Route: Starting at Blair Candy Company, participants will proceed down a flat course on Beale Avenue past Cesare Battisti and will proceed through the rolling hills of Broad Avenue before heading back to the finish line at Blair Candy Company.
• 2 Mile Walk/Run: Our first 2 mile course of the year will start out at Blair Candy Company and we follow through the rolling hills of Altoona before looping back to Broad Avenue and finishing at Blair Candy Company.

Awards Ceremony

• Timing: Awards will be given out immediately following the race.
• Categories: Medals for 5k Run, Overall top finishers in 2m Run & 2m Walk.
• Age Groups: Top three male and female finishers in the 5k Run, 2m Run, and 2m Walk in age categories: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & Over.
• Final Note: Award winners are asked to remain for the Awards Ceremony as no awards will be mailed.

Volunteers Needed

• Help Wanted: We are looking for volunteers to help as road marshals along the race course.
• Compensation: As a road marshal you will receive a race t-shirt and food after the race.
• Invite Friends: Ask a friend, family member or co-worker to come along with you and enjoy all the excitement of helping out and cheering on the race participants!
