Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research

Welcome to the 42nd Anniversary of the Sportspectrum Firecracker 5k Race for Research Run & Healthwalk.

5k Registration:

• Early Bird Pricing: $25 through April 30th
• Standard Pricing: $30 May 1st through July 3rd
• Race Day Pricing: $40.00
• Save Money: Want to save $5.00 on your registration? Select "I do not need another race shirt" and save $5.00!

Kids 1/2 Mile Fun Run:

• Cost: $15.00 through July 3rd
• Race Day Cost: $20.00 June 30th through race morning
• Start Time: 7:30 a.m. All kids participating in the 1/2 mile fun run will be awarded a finishers medal.
• Date: Saturday, July 4th, 2026

Race Information:

• 5k Start Time: 8:00 a.m.
• Course Description: 5K (3.1 miles) will start and finish at Mall St. Vincent Parking Lot (behind Sears) and proceed through historic South Highland Subdivision.
• Early Packet Pickup: Dates and times listed below.
• Race Day: Registration and check-in at the race site from 6:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.

Packet Pickup Schedule:

• June 25-26: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• June 27: 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
• June 28: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• June 29 - July 3: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Race Shirts:

• Design Options: Choice of either a short sleeve tee or a tank top (adult sizes only for tank tops).
• Selection: Please select the right item when registering.
• Race Day Note: You may register race day, but T-shirt availability is not guaranteed.
• Policy: We will not hold or mail race shirts: unpicked shirts will go to volunteers.

Awards:

• Top Male & Female: Overall winners receive $500 each.
• 2nd Place: Overall male & female winners receive $250 each.
• Mugs Award: First 101 men and first 100 female finishers will receive a 41st Anniversary Commemorative Mug.
• 50+ Award: First 10 male and female finishers over the age of 50 also receive a commemorative mug.

Prize Money:

• Total Prize: $2500.00 to be won!
• Overall Winners: Each overall male & female winner gets $500.
• Runner-up: Each overall runner-up male & female gets $250.
• Course Record Bonus: Beat the course record and win an additional $500!

Post Party:

• Food: Hot dogs, hamburgers, fresh fruit, cookies, and beverages.
• Refreshments: Ice cold Great Raft Beer and water.

Important Notes:

• Baby Joggers: Allowed on the course but only at a walking pace: no inline or roller skates.

• Refund Policy: 100% refund if canceled over 30 days before the race: 50% refund if canceled between 30 days and two weeks prior.
• Transfer Policy: Transfers allowed two weeks prior to race day for a $10 fee.
