Purpose: The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11,2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
Remembering Heroes: Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty!

How far is a Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk?
Distance: This is a 5K (3.1 miles) to walk or run this event.
Participation: Anyone can run, walk, or experience this event.

Day of Registration
Availability: Yes, registration remains open until the start of the run.
Fees: Those who wait to register on day of will pay an additional $10.
T-shirt Availability: We may not have a t-shirt, and cannot guarantee sizes for late registrants.
Online Registration
Closing Time: Online registration will remain open until the start of the run.
Bib Number Requirement
Display: Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment.
Course Policy: Those who run without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.
Frontline Position for Fast Runners
Eligibility: Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral.
Arrive Early: Please arrive early.
Awards for Running
Simple Awards: Yes, we keep them very simple since our mission is to honor first responders.
Gears of Honor: Most of our awards are based on firefighters, police or military running in gear in the same fashion that Stephen Siller did on 9/11.
Event Experience: This event is intended to be much more than a run.
Water Availability
Station: Yes, a water station will be available along the route.
Additional Water: There will be water available at the square.
Items to Bring
Permitted Gear: Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are permitted.
Strollers and Wheelchairs: Strollers and wheelchairs will start at the back of the runners and first responders.
Valuables: Please leave all personal items and valuables in your vehicle. All items should be stored securely at the owner's risk.
Responsibility: Tunnel to Towers Foundation will not be responsible for the loss of any items.
Fundraising Details
Registration Fee: Your registration fee does not count toward the fundraising goal.
Packet Pickup: Yes, someone else can pick up your packet if they present a copy of your registration receipt.
Post-Race Donations: Yes, donations will be accepted after the event.

Registration Transfers
Transfer Process: Yes, you can transfer your registration to another participant.
Refund Policy
Refunds: We do not provide refunds for the event if you cannot attend.
Transferability: Registration may be transferred to another person.

Online Registration: You should automatically receive a receipt upon registering online.
Medical Staff Availability
Emergency Medical Service: Yes, there will be an Emergency Medical Service team available on site.
Communication: There is also radio communication available on the course to help communicate with the EMS.

Incentives: Yes, we offer fundraising incentives each year.
Qualification: To qualify, complete your fundraising by June 30, 2026.
