🏮 Event Description

The Rising Sun depicts rays of light spreading in all directions without clouds and honors the day or auspicious events. The Rising Sun flag is used in everyday life in Japan, such as to celebrate a big catch by fishermen, childbirth and other festivities. Our 5k will embody the spirit of the Rising Sun to celebrate the day starting with a karate style warm up and finishing with celebratory board breaking after you cross the finish line!

🎖️ Participation Details

• Custom Items: All participants will receive a custom bib, finisher medal and Rising Sun t-shirt.
• Little Dragons: There will also be a 1 mile run/walk for the Little Dragons or anyone who wishes for a short stroll through John Prince Park.
• Fundraising: The funds raised benefit the Kick Start Foundation of Palm Beach.
• Martial Arts Training: Kick Start helps at-risk children with personal development through martial arts training.

🏆 Awards & Recognition

The Rising Sun 5K is a chipped timed event and will provide awards top 3 overall (male and female) as well as age groups.

🌍 Virtual Participation

Not able to attend the race on February 23rd? A virtual option is available for those who cannot make it or live outside South Florida.

  • Thursday February 20, 2025 - 5:00 to 8:00pm
  • Friday February 21, 2025 - 5:00 to 7:00pm
  • Saturday February 22, 2025 - 10:30am to 1:00pm

• Race Day Schedule:
  • 6:15am - Park gates open
  • 6:30am - Registration and Packet Pickup Open
  • 7:15am - 5K Fitness Warmup
  • 7:25am - Announcements and National Anthem
  • 7:30am - Start of the Rising Sun 5K
  • 7:40am - Start of the Rising Sun 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
  • 8:45am - 5K Awards Ceremony
