Join us for a fun day at Southwind Park in support of the Animal Protective League (APL).

Race Details

• Date: June 13, 2026
• Location: Southwind Park, Springfield, IL
• Events: Timed 5K Run and Fun Run/Walk
• Registration Fees: $30 for adults, $15 for children 12 and under

Fundraising Opportunities

• Individual Fundraisers: Set up your own fundraiser for additional donations.
• Cat Napper: Sign up for $30 to support APL's mission without racing.
• Thank You Card: Receive a personalized thank you card from an APL dog or cat.
• T-Shirt: Register by May 22nd to receive a free race t-shirt.

Registration Information

• Registration Closes: Midnight on June 11th
• Packet Pick-Up: June 12th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at APL, 1001 Taintor Road
• Limited Packet Pick-Up: Available on race day: no on-site registration.

Dog Participation Guidelines

• Dog Requirements: Sociable, well-behaved, up-to-date on vaccinations.
• Rabies Vaccination: Proof of current rabies vaccine required.
• Leashed at All Times: Keep your dog leashed throughout the event.
• Age Requirement: Dogs must be at least four months of age.

Event Highlights

• Costume Contest: Participate with your pet for a fun challenge!
• Vendors: Explore a variety of vendors at the event.
• Mel-O-Cream Donuts: Free donuts for all participants before the race.

Schedule

• May 22nd: Early registration with free t-shirt ends.
• June 11th: Registration closes at midnight.
• June 12th: Race packet distribution from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at APL.
• June 13th: Race Day activities start at 9:00 a.m.

Race Day Agenda

• 9:00 a.m.: Visit with our Vendors. Limited race day packet distribution.
• 9:30 a.m.: Costume Contest.
• 10:00 a.m.: Timed Race starts.
• 11:00 a.m.: Fun Run/Walk, followed by the award ceremony.

Race Prize Categories

• 1st Place 5K Female: Overall winner of the female category.
• 1st Place 5K Male: Overall winner of the male category.
• Overall Canine: 1st canine across the finish line.
• 12 and Under: Overall 1st place winners in both female and male categories.

Costume Contest

Best Costume award will be given during the event.
