Registration Information

• Deadline: The Early Bird deadline is July 1st, so sign up now to make sure you get your FREE T-SHIRT in the correct size.
• Availability: Availability on race day will be limited!

Event Details

• Location: The Mill Pond Mile is a one-mile run around the scenic Mill Pond in New London, Minnesota.
• Timing: It is not an officially timed race, so participants can bring a wearable timer or stopwatch.
• Family Friendly: It is a family fun run for all ages.
• Timing Context: The run takes place each July, before the annual Water Days parade.

History

• Started By: The Mill Pond Mile was started in 2000 by Jim and Shelly Berg.
• In Memory: It honors the memory of their 10-year-old son, Cody, who died in a car-bike accident in 1999.
• Scholarships: Proceeds from the race go to provide college scholarships for members of the New London Spicer graduating class.

In Memory of Jim Berg

• Passing: In 2022, Shelly's husband, Jim, passed away after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.
• Scholarship Fund: The scholarship fund was renamed the "Cody and Jim Berg Scholarship Fund."
• Community Support: The Mill Pond Mile continues on, thanks in large part to the dedication of the entire Berg family, plus friends, volunteers, and sponsors.
