Starved Rock Country Marathon

Race Overview

• Event Dates: The 2027 Starved Rock Country Marathon will take place on May 8, 2027.
• Location: 815 LaSalle Street, Ottawa, IL.

Course Details

• Scenic Route: The marathon course will feature beautiful scenery of the Illinois River and the neighborhoods of Ottawa.
• Natural Landscapes: Runners will be inspired by country hills and natural rock formations created by the Illinois River.
• Aide Stations: There will be 16 aide stations, each stocked with Gatorade, plus GU at select stations.
• Half Marathon Route: The half marathon will start in Starved Rock State Park and traverse both city and nature settings.

Important Notes

• Course Time Limit: In 2027, the race course will be open for 6 hours, reduced from 6.5 hours in previous years.
• 5K Event: The Run Starved Rock 5K will follow part of the marathon route and finish along the river.
• Charity Support: A portion of 5K proceeds will benefit local charities promoting running and physical activity.
• 10K Course: This event will feature an out-and-back course along scenic Rt 71, alongside the Illinois River.

Registration Information

• Shirt and Medals: Signing up after April 20th may affect your ability to receive specified shirts and medals.
• Packet Pickup: Will be held from 1 PM - 8 PM on Friday, May 7th, at Ottawa YMCA, located at 411 Canal St, Ottawa, IL.
• Included Items: Participants will receive bibs, participant shirts, and a swag bag filled with local offers and race information.
• Race Participation: A bib is required for all race participants.
