Course Details

• Scenic Views: The marathon course features the Illinois River, Ottawa neighborhoods, and landscapes around Starved Rock State Park.
• Exciting Landscape: Runners will enjoy rolling hills and natural rock formations set in wooded areas created by the Illinois River.
• Aid Stations: The course includes 16 aid stations with Gatorade, plus GU at select stations.
• Flat Course: The Half Marathon offers a flat, fast course through both country and city environments.

Participant Information

• Shirts and Medals: Each runner receives a participant shirt, and finishers will receive a race-specific medal, the fifth in the series.
• Course Changes: In 2026, the marathon course will be open for 6 hours, a change from 6.5 hours in previous years.
• 5K Event: The Run Starved Rock 5K starts and ends with the marathon, benefiting local charities and promoting physical activity.
• New 10K Race: A scenic outback course along Rt 71, right on the banks of the Illinois River.

Health Expo and Packet Pickup

• Date and Time: Noon - 8 PM on Friday, May 8th.
• Location: Rivers Edge event center (formerly the Kof C hall), 401 W. Main Street, Ottawa, IL.
• Rider Items: Runners will receive bibs (required for race participation), participant shirts, and a swag bag filled with local and regional offers.
• Important: Make sure to handle pickup to ensure a smooth race day experience.
