Join us for The Mogadishu Mile on September 28, 2024, at Lock Haven VFW in Lock Haven, PA.
📜 Race Description
- The Battle of Mogadishu: Fought on 3–4 October 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia, between US forces and Somali National Alliance.
- Operation Gothic Serpent: Part of the broader Somali Civil War that began in 1991.
- Mission Turned Battle: Task Force Ranger's raid on Aidid's lieutenants spiraled into a deadly overnight firefight on 4 October 1993.
- Casualties: 18 American soldiers killed and 73 wounded, with varying estimates of Somali casualties.
