- Courses: Featuring certified Galveston Causeway 5K and 10K courses
- Kids Event: A Kid's 1K sponsored by Whataburger
- Activities: A book character costume contest, dozens of vendor booths, music, food, and much more
Support Newspapers in Education
The Daily News Press Run provides support to the Newspapers in Education program (NIE). NIE provides resources that use the newspaper to develop reading comprehension skills, critical thinking, and a better understanding of the way the world relates to the classroom. We have a waiting list of teachers who want to join and need your help to make the program a success for the upcoming school year.
Parking Information
- Location: Runners' parking is available at Target Parking Lot 6128 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77551
- Shuttle Buses: Shuttle buses will run from 5:00 am to noon
- Arrival: Please allow yourself ample time to get checked in and warm up
Bag Drop Off
- Service: Bag drop is available at the info station
- Donation: A $5 donation to Newspapers In Education program is required
Costume Contest
- Theme: Dress up as your favorite book character as we celebrate Literacy Day with our Smart Family Literacy, Inc. Partners
- Prizes: The first, second, and third place winners will win a special prize donated by local merchants
- Categories: The contest is divided into two groups: children and adults
- Judging: A panel will judge the costumes
