Puppy Creek Fire Department “Run for a Cure” 5K

🏃‍♀️ Event Overview

The 5K is a chance to get out and crawl-walk-jog-run with your neighbors, family and friends. This event helps raise money towards getting free breast exams, wig assistance and other breast cancer related opportunities for Hoke County residents who don't have the resources to do so.

🌸 Goals of the Event

• Raise awareness: The event is designed to bring attention to breast cancer.
• Generate interest: Encouraging donations for breast cancer support services.
• Educate the public: Informing attendees on identifying and dealing with breast cancer.
• Partnerships: Cape Fear Valley Health is a key member of our team and has generously donated locations for participants.

📝 Registration Details

• Preregistration Dates: From 4/30/25 to 10/24/25 online ($25).
• Walk-up Registration: Available at $30.
• T-Shirt & Medal Guarantee: Early registration by 9/24/25 guarantees a t-shirt and medal.
• Children's Participation: Children 7 and under can participate for free, no shirt or medal will be issued.

🚫 Participation Guidelines

This will be a self-timed event and prizes for various categories will be given out. Please NO pets, bikes, or scooters, however baby strollers are welcome. All runners who register after September 24, 2025, will not be guaranteed a run shirt or medal on race day.

🎖️ Awards & Responsibilities

• Extra Shirts: Available at the registration tables on race day on a first-come basis.
• Completion Medal: Everyone with a runner's bib who completes the race will receive a race medal at the finishing line.
• No Shows: Will forfeit shirt and medal.
• Personal Property: The Fire Department, Cape Fear Valley, Sheriff's Department, or EMS will not be responsible to hold personal property for anyone.
