Run for the Word 5K

Course

• Start Point: The Run for the Word 5K course will start on Zion Street, across Highway 153 from Trinity Lutheran Church (108 W. Rice Street, Landis NC 28088).
• Route: Turn right on Hoke Street, right again on Kimmons Street, and another right on Rice Street.
• Turnaround: Continue to Highway 29 Business and turn left. Follow for 1.1 miles to the turnaround in the parking lot at Hogan's Cabinetry.
• Finish Line: Retrace the route back to Landis for 1 mile and turn right on Ridge Avenue and then left on Zion Street to finish beside Trinity Lutheran, the host facility. This is a fast and flat course!!

Proceeds

• Beneficiary: All proceeds go to the South Rowan Public Schools Bible Teaching Association.
• Classes Offered: Providing classes in Bible History at South Rowan High School, Jesse C. Carson High School, Corriher-Lipe Middle School, China Grove Middle School, and Southeast Middle School.
• Funding: These positions are fully funded by the SRPSBT Association.
• Purpose: The Association raises funds in order to reimburse Rowan-Salisbury Schools for the salary and benefits paid to our Bible teachers Emily Griggs, Franchesca Wicker, and Madison Morgan.

Ice Cream

• Reward: Each 5k and fun run participant will be rewarded with free ICE CREAM at the finish line!!

Price

• Pre-Race Fee: 5k price through September 11 (online) - $30, Ages 18 & Under - $20.
• Race Day Fee: Race Day price - $35.
• Fun Run Fee: 1/2 Mile Fun Run price - $15 (12 & under), $25 (13 & up).
• Registration & Check-In: 7:30 a.m.

Schedule

• 5K Start: 9:00 a.m.
• Fun Run Start: 10:00 a.m.
• Location: Registration & Check-In will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church - 108 W. Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088.

Virtual Option

• Cost: $30 - all ages.
• Participation: Want to support the race but would rather run or walk at a time of your own choosing?! The virtual 5K is for you!
• Shirt Pickup: Virtual 5K runners and walkers will receive a shirt. Shirts may be picked up in person the day of the race - September 12, 2026.
• Award Eligibility: Virtual participants not eligible for awards.

Awards

• 5K Awards: Immediately following the race: Top 3 Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, 5K Top 3 Male and Female participants in each age division.
• Fun Run Awards: 1/2 Mile Fun-Run - ages 12 and under eligible for awards - top 3 male and female in each age group: 8 & under and 9-12.

Age Groups

• 5K Age Groups: 11 & under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.
• Fun Run Age Groups: 8 & under, 9-12.

Shirts

• Participation: 5K and Fun Run participants (in person and virtual) will receive a technical t-shirt.
