Take Flight 5k & 1 Mile Run

The 13th Annual Take Flight 5k

Let your feet take flight on the Greenville Downtown Airport runway for one of the most unique running experiences and flattest 5k races around.

Event Details

• Date: Saturday, May 23rd, 2026
• Location: 21 Airport Road Ext., Greenville, SC US 29607
• Encouragement: Costumes and Competition are highly encouraged. Fun is mandatory!
• Awards: Prizes will be given out between races.

Participation Guidelines

• Strollers: Allowed
• Walkers: Allowed
• Pets: No pets are allowed in this race.
• Honoring Veterans: A small ceremony will honor our fallen veterans prior to the race.

Schedule

• Late Registration: 6:30 am
• Ceremony Start: 7:30 am
• 5k Race Start: 8:00 am
• 1 Mile Race Start: 8:45 am

Bib & Shirt Pickup

• Thursday, May 21st: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the loop between Takeoff Minigolf and the Museum.
• Friday, May 22nd: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the loop between Takeoff Minigolf and the Museum.
• Saturday, May 23rd: 6:30 am - 7:45 am

Awards

• 5k Race:
  • Top 3 Males & Females Overall
  • Top 3 in each Age Group Category: 0-9, 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80+.
• 1 Mile Race:
  • Top 3 Male and Female Overall
  • Top 3 in the Youth Age Group Categories: 1-9 Boys & Girls, 10-12 Boys & Girls, 13-16 Boys & Girls, 17-19 Boys & Girls.

Additional Information

All proceeds from the race and any fundraising goes to Runway Park maintenance and improvements.
