SARR Great Greenway Marathon Relay

Race Overview

• Date: February 1, 2026
• Location: The Rim Trailhead, San Antonio, TX
• Status: This race is Sold Out!
• Distance: 26.2 miles (point-to-point marathon relay)

Course Details

• Course Information: We are going back to the original course, starting at Mainland and ending at McAllister. Still 26.2 miles but more downhill.
• Scenery: Explores the many parks along the Leon and Salado creeks at the edge of the Texas Hill Country.
• Team Size: Minimum of 2 and up to 5 runners per team with various categories to compete.
• Relay Legs: There are 5 Relay Legs that vary in length, requiring strategic planning of runner placements.

Start and Finish

• Start: Begins at the Rim Trailhead off Vance Jackson Road.
• Finish: Ends at McAllister Dog Park trailhead.
• Celebration: Medals and celebration waiting at the finish line.

Participation Guidelines

• Eligibility: Runners of all abilities are welcome (must be at least 14 years old to participate).
• Registration: Each team member must register separately and create or join a team.
• Shirt Guarantee: Shirts only guaranteed to the first 500 registrants prior to January 15th.
• Sold Out History: The race has sold out the last 3 years, so register early.

Awards

• Categories: Awards for top 3 teams in Junior, Open, Masters (40+), Super Masters (50+), and Non-Binary categories.
• Mixed Category: All Mixed categories must have at least 2 females per team.
• Best Team Shirts: Award for the team with the best team shirts.
• Note: Only First Place team awarded in Non-Binary category.

Race Rules

• Verification: All members of teams eligible for awards are subject to verification by race officials.
• Baton: Runners must carry the team baton while running their leg(s).
• Disqualification: The race director may disqualify anyone for not adhering to the rules.
• No Strollers/Pets: Teams with a runner using a baby stroller or running with a pet will not be eligible for awards.

Packet Pickup

• Mandatory: All packets must be picked up at designated dates.
• Team Pickup: Choose one person to pick up for your relay team.
• Batons: Will be given out on race day at the start line.

  • Friday, January 30th from 4-7 p.m. at REI, 11745 I-10 Suite 110, San Antonio, TX 78230
  • Saturday, January 31st from 12-3 p.m. at Fleet Feet San Antonio - The Quarry, 7322 Jones Maltsberger Rd #152, San Antonio, TX 78209

• Time Limit: There is a 7-hour time limit on the marathon and marathon relay course.

Registration Discounts

• SARR Members: 25% discount with online registration through 1/11/26.
• Younger and Older Runners: Age 20 or younger and age 70+ get a 50% discount with online registration through 1/11/26.
• Military Discount: Active/retired military get a $5 discount (ID required at packet pickup).
• Registration Deadline: Discounts expire 45 days before Race Day.
