About this race
Information
- Event: Sound the Alarm 5K race/walk is a gentle out and back course on Madison Pike through historical portion of Independence, KY.
- Elevation: Elevation changes along the course are less than 45’.
- Ceremonies: Opening ceremonies begin at 8:15 am, the run/walk starts at 8:30 am.
Packet Pick Up Location
- Location: Tri-State Running Company, 148 Barnwood Drive, Edgewood KY 41017
- Date: Friday, September 25th, from 10 am – 7 pm.
- Race Day: Packet pick up at race site from 7:15 am-8:00 am.
- Note: There is no race day sign up.
Age Groups
- Categories: Male and Female runner/walkers
- Age Ranges: Under 15/16-20/21-25/26-30/31-35/36-39/40-45/45-49/50-54/55-60/61-64/65 and older
- Prizes: Overall prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women, determined by gun time.
- Eligibility: Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.
T-shirts
- Availability: Shirts and bibs can be picked up on race day for those unable to pick them up on Friday.
- Note: There is no race day sign up.
Mission
- Purpose: The mission of the Sound the Alarm 5K Run/Walk is to provide awareness and financial support to the first responder community.
- Support: The race raises funds to support families of Firefighters, Police Officers, and Emergency Medical Staff providers killed in the line of duty.
- Collaboration: This year, the Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945 will partner with Hickory Grove Baptist Church and Supporting Heroes.
- Emergency Fund: Supporting Heroes presents a $5,000 ‘emergency funds’ check to the most immediate financially dependent survivor.
Event Details
- Start Time: All participants will start at 8:30 am, with no corrals.
- Race Completion: Participants have 90 minutes to complete the course: after that, everyone will be asked to move to the sidewalk.
- Swag Bags: Swag bags are included with race registration.
- Virtual Race: Participants will receive a shirt/medal by mail following race day.
