The Gail Borden Public Library District Foundation and the U-46 Educational Foundation have partnered to create an extraordinary race and fall season for this community. On Saturday, October 18, El Trote De Las Calacas (the Skeleton Trot), a USTF certified 5K race (and walk) steps off amid music and fanfare at 9 am on a course that begins at the Gail Borden Public Library at 270 N. Grove, Elgin, Illinois.

• Race details: A USATF-certified 5K race (and walk) held Saturday, October 18, stepping off at 9 am, beginning at the library and winding through Elgin’s historic neighborhood and scenic bike path along the Fox River.

• Online registration: All participants must register online.

🎁 What do I get by registering?

• Goodies: Participants receive a goodie bag with a specially designed shirt and a unique bib number. Additional items like a medal and free cool stuff on race day (items subject to change).

T-Shirt Information

• Individual Registration: Includes one event t-shirt with the registration fee.
• Multi-Person Registration: T-shirts are not included. Participants may purchase a t-shirt for an additional $22 per person.

📅 When to pick up my bib and t-shirt?

• Packet pick-up locations:
  • Friday, October 10 (10 am - 3 pm)
  • Saturday, October 11 (10 am - 3 pm)
  • Wednesday, October 15 (3 pm to 8 pm)

⏱️ Is the race timed?

• Timed bibs: Yes, participants will get a timed bib, results recorded automatically at the finish line.

🕰️ Registration deadline

• Deadline: The last day for registration is Monday, October 6 at 11:59 pm. No same-day registration will be allowed.

✉️ Email requirement

• Email address: Every participant 18 and up must provide their own email. Minors require an adult to register and sign a waiver.

• Mandatory registration: All participants must have official registration to be on the course.

📝 Waiver requirement

• Signing a waiver: Required for all participants, including walkers, joggers, runners, and wheelchair participants.

👶 Strollers allowed?

• Yes: Participants can walk/run with children in strollers.

• No pets: Unfortunately, pets are not allowed, but service dogs are permitted.

💵 Refund policy

• No refunds: Sales are final, and no refunds will be provided.

• First place awards: Given to the first place male and female finishers.
• Age category awards: First place in various age categories for both genders will receive awards.
