Heroes of America Marathon/Half Marathon/5K

Race Overview

The Heroes of America Marathon and Half Marathon Saturday, March 20, 2027 race starts and finishes on Broadway behind the Columbus Marriott. The marathon, Half and 5k runs south of the Columbus Marriott (utilizing some streets including Broadway, W 9th street and 1st Ave onto the beautiful Columbus River Walk. The Marathon going all the way inside Fort Benning and looping from 8.25 mile to 17.75 miles. The course will then exit Fort Benning at mile 17.75 and return back to the Marriott start/finish line. The course is reasonably flat with some smaller inclines. The Heroes of America 5k also starts on Broadway after the Half Marathon start. Because of the width of the Riverwalk, the Heroes of America Marathon does not allow participants who use hand-cranks.

Marathon Details

• Distance: 26.2 miles
• Course: Starts behind Columbus Marriott, loops inside Fort Benning, returns to Broadway
• Minimum Age: 16 years old
• Start Time: 8:00 am EST, End Time: 3:00 pm EST

Half Marathon Details

• Distance: 13.1 miles
• Course: Starts and finishes on Broadway behind the Columbus Marriott
• Minimum Age: 10 years old
• Start Time: 8:00 am EST, End Time: 12:00 pm EST

Ranger Challenge Relay Marathon

• Participants: Teams of no more than 2 runners
• Exchange Point: One exchange point at 13.1 miles inside Ft Benning
• Chip Timing: Lead runner gets chip start time
• Transportation: Not provided to the exchange point

5K Details

• Distance: 3.1 miles
• Start Time: 8:10 am EST, End Time: 9:30 am EST
• Minimum Age: 6 years old
• Queueing: Runners will queue behind marathon and half marathon runners

Awards and Certification

• Finisher Rewards: Race t-shirt and finisher’s medal for all finishers
• Winners: Awards for Overall and Overall Masters (Male and Female)
• Age Group Awards: 5K & Half - 14 and under through 75 and up
• Marathon Age Group Awards: 19 and under through 75 and up

Parking Information

• Parking Locations: 801 Front Avenue deck garage, lots at Bay Avenue and Dillingham Street
• Street Parking: Very limited on 9th Street
• Recommendation: Stay at the Columbus Marriott for close access
• Accessibility: Ensure availability due to high demand
