In celebration of September as Sickle Cell Awareness month, join the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter for our 26th Annual Walter E. Brandon Virtual Sickle Cell 5K Walk-Run Fundraiser! This annual walk/run - founded in 1998, in memory of our agency co-founder, Walter E. Brandon - serves as a platform to raise greater awareness about sickle cell disease and trait, along with the importance of continued sickle cell education and knowing your trait status. As we transition out of the global pandemic into a hybrid community, we are delighted to provide all attendees with inspiration and additional resources you could use.

When you participate in our walk/run, you are advocating to bring greater attention to this "invisible" genetic disease. The W.E.B. Virtual Sickle Cell 5K is the perfect opportunity to encourage loved ones/family, friends, and your network to help advocate by walking/running and purchasing this year's merch in honor of those living with sickle cell disease and trait.

This year, our 26th Walter E. Brandon Virtual Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run Fundraiser honors the life and legacy of the beloved and dearly missed Mrs. Joan D. Lambright.

⏰ Program Schedule

• 9:00am – 10:30am: Virtual Opening Ceremony
• 10:40am: Walkers/Runners commence at locations of choice
• Results Announcement: Most memorable walking/running person/team will be recognized via social media on the week of September 30, 2024! Don't forget to tag us in your walk/run videos and/or photos on social media. Feel free to send photos of your walk/run to scdaa.pdvc@sicklecelldisorder.com!
