Hokie Half Marathon and 5K

Race Overview

COME TO BEAUTIFUL BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA THIS FALL AND RUN WITH THE HOKIES! It is the fourteenth year of the Hokie Half Marathon and 5K! It will take place Sunday, September 20th, 2026. So come join us and earn your 14th anniversary Hokie Bird finisher medal. We have live bands, beautiful scenery, terrific race support, and some awesome race swag!

• Participant Limits: 2000 for the Half Marathon, 500 for the 5K

Start Times and Weather

• Half Marathon Start: 7:30 am
• 5K Start: 8:00 am
• Average Temperature at Start: 55 degrees
• Average Temperature at 10am: 61 degrees

Registration Information

• Online Registration Closes: 09/18/26 at 7pm
• Paper Forms Deadline: 8 pm on 9/19/2026 at packet pickup
• Hokie Half Marathon Prices: $89 before 8/14/2026, $98 from 8/14/2026 - 9/14/2026, $110 from 9/15/2026 - 9/19/2026
• Hokie 5K Prices: $33 before 8/14/2026, $37 from 8/14/2026 - 9/14/2026, $42 from 9/15/2026 - 9/19/2026

Awards

• Overall Awards: 1st place male and female: $500, 2nd place: $300, 3rd place: $200
• Age Group Awards: Top three male and female finishers in each age division
• Half Marathon Finisher Medal: All finishers receive a Hokie Bird finisher medal
• 5K Finisher Medal: Available only for those who register for the 5k finisher medal option

Packet Pick-Up

• When: Saturday between noon and 8 pm
• Location: University Mall (801 University City Blvd, Blacksburg)
• Representation: Friends may pick up packets with a note and ID
• Race Day Pickup: Available for an additional fee of $10

Transportation and Parking

• Shuttle Service: From Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill parking from 5:30 am
• Parking Passes: Distributed at packet pickup
• Drop Off: At the Virginia Tech Executive Airport
• Parking Restrictions: VT yearly pass holders cannot park at Chicken Hill Lot

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

• Refund Policy: Registration fees are non-refundable
• Transfers: Allowed until September 14th, 2026
• Race Changes: $10 fee unless transferring from half to 5K with a medal
• No Exceptions: for cancellation or changes

Course Information

• Time Limit: 4-hour limit for Half Marathon
• Course Certification: Certified by USATF
• Complimentary Entries: Available for elite runners meeting specific standards
• Hotel Rooms: Complimentary rooms for elite runners based on standards

• Virtual Race: Available with all finishers' items included
• Race Day Expo: Merchandise and packet pickup
• Course Maps: Same course as previous years
