Welcome to the Hokie Half Marathon and 5K

COME TO BEAUTIFUL BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA THIS FALL AND RUN WITH THE HOKIES! It is the fourteenth year of the Hokie Half Marathon and 5K! It will take place Sunday, September 20th, 2026. So come join us and earn your 14th anniversary Hokie Bird finisher medal. We have live bands, beautiful scenery, terrific race support, and some awesome race swag!

Race Info

• Registration: You can register for the 2026 Hokie Half Marathon & 5k on this website or by mailing a hard copy form to RunAbout Sports.
• Participant Limit: The Hokie Half Marathon is limited to 2000 participants and the Hokie 5K is limited to 500 runners and walkers.
• Race Start Time: 7:30 am for the half marathon and 8:00 am for 5K.
• Average Temperature: 55 degrees at start time, 61 degrees by 10 am.

Registration Fees

Online Registration Closes 09/18/26 at 7pm. Paper forms will be accepted until 8 pm on 9/19/2026 at packet pickup at the University Mall.

• Hokie Half Marathon: Price Level One: $89 Before 8/14/2026
• Hokie Half No-Frills Option: $75 Before 8/14/2026
• Hokie 5k (NO Finisher Medal): $33 Before 8/14/2026
• Virtual Race: $85.00 ($57.00 for 5K with medal) Before 9/20/2026

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

• Non-Refundable: Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
• Transfer Deadline: Transfers must be done by September 14th, 2026.
• Email for Transfers: Please email RunAboutSports@gmail.com to transfer.
• Race Change Fee: $10.00 fee applies unless transferring from the half to the 5K.

Hokie Half Marathon Awards

• Overall Awards: $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd place, $200 for 3rd place.
• Age Group Awards: Top three male and female in age divisions from 15-18 to 75-over.
• Finisher Medals: All finishers (excluding “no medal” option) will receive a Hokie Bird medal.
• Award Pickup: Age group awards will NOT BE mailed: pick up at the awards table.

Packet Pickup Policy

• Pickup Time: Saturday between noon and 8 pm at the University Mall.
• Friends Pickup: Allowed with a note and picture ID.
• Race Day Pickup: Can be purchased for $10.
• Confirmation: Race number must be worn on the front of your shirt when you finish.

Race Day Parking

• Shuttle Service: Buses running from 5:30 am, every 10 minutes.
• Parking Passes: Distributed at packet pickup.
• Drop-off Location: VT Executive Airport across from start/finish area.
• Parking Regulations: VT yearly pass holders must park at designated areas.

Course Time Limit

Please remember the Hokie Half Marathon has a four-hour time limit for participants. The course will close at 4 hours (about 18:20 pace per mile).

Course Maps

The 2026 course will be the same as the past few years. The course is certified by USATF.

Complimentary Entries and Hotel Rooms

• Half Marathon Standards: Men: Sub 1:08:00, Women: Sub 1:20:00 for complimentary entries.
• Hotel Rooms: Limited availability for those meeting half marathon standards.
