Hokie Half Marathon and 5K

Event Overview

COME TO BEAUTIFUL BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA THIS FALL AND RUN WITH THE HOKIES! It is the fourteenth year of the Hokie Half Marathon and 5K! It will take place Sunday, September 20th, 2026. So come join us and earn your 14th anniversary Hokie Bird finisher medal. We have live bands, beautiful scenery, terrific race support, and some awesome race swag!

Race Info

• Registration: You can register for the 2026 Hokie Half Marathon & 5k on this website or by mailing a hard copy form to RunAbout Sports.
• Participant Limits: The Hokie Half Marathon is limited to 2000 participants and the Hokie 5K is limited to 500 runners and walkers.
• Race Start Time: 7:30 am for the half marathon and 8:00 am for 5K.
• Average Temperature: The average temperature at the start time: 55 degrees. The average temperature at 10 am: 61 degrees.

Registration Fees

Online Registration Closes 09/18/26 at 7pm. Paper forms will be accepted until 8 pm on 9/19/2026 at packet pickup at the University Mall.

• Hokie Half Marathon: Price Level One: $89 Before 8/14/2026 (deadline is 11:59 pm August 13th).
• Price Level Two: $98 8/14/2026 - 9/14/2026 (deadline is 11:59 pm Sept. 14th).
• Price Level Three: $110 9/15/2026 - 9/19/2026 (no race day registration).
• No Medal Option: Receive a race shirt (while quantities last), will NOT receive a finisher medal, One price level: $90.

Hokie 5k Options

• No Finisher Medal: Price Level One: $33 Before 8/14/2026.
• 5K with Finisher Medal: Price Level One: $48 Before 8/14/2026.
• 5K Medal Details: Same as Hokie Half medal but with 5K.
• Virtual Race: Includes shipping, finisher medal, and participant shirt.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

• Non-Refundable: Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
• Transfer Policy: Transfer your bib number to someone else by September 14th, 2026.
• Expand to Next Year: You have until September 13th, 2026 to transfer.
• No Exceptions: NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Awards

• Overall Awards: 1st place male and female: $500, 2nd place male and female: $300, 3rd place male and female: $200.
• Age Group Awards: Top three male and female half-marathon finishers in each age division.
• Finisher Awards: All finishers will receive a Hokie Bird Half Marathon finisher medal (excluding “no medal” option).
• 5K Awards: Top three in male and female finishers in each age group.

Packet Pick-Up Policy

• Location: Packet pick up on Saturday between noon and 8 pm at the University Mall.
• Picking for Friends: You are allowed to pick up a friend’s packet with a note and ID.
• Race Day Pickup: Available for $10, allowing you to pick up your packet on race morning.
• Timely Pickup: Please ensure timely pickup to avoid issues on race day.

Course Information

• Time Limit: The Hokie Half Marathon has a four-hour time limit for participants.
• Course Certification: The course is certified by USATF.
• Event Expo: Expo at University Mall on Saturday from noon until 8 pm.
• Complimentary Entries: Available for exceptional athletes achieving specified standards.
