Mountaineer 5K

What is the Mountaineer 5k?

• Race Type: The Mountaineer 5k is a 5-kilometer race organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization.
• Participants: We welcome runners, walkers, and strollers, but no pets allowed.
• Beneficiary: The race benefits Summit Academy Mountaineers, promoting health and fitness awareness.
• Wellness Journey: This is a great opportunity to start or continue your wellness journey!

Registration Cost:

• Now - January 18, 2026: $25.00
• January 19, 2026 - February 18, 2026: $35.00
• February 19, 2026 - March 18, 2026: $45.00
• March 19, 2026 - March 28, 2026: $50.00

What is included in your registration?

• Finishers Medal: An Awesome finishers medal.
• T-Shirt: Cool t-shirt (to be guaranteed a shirt and medal please register by February 28th).
• Course Support: Water stations along the course.
• Awards: Overall and Age Group Awards custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Awards Ceremony will begin at 9am.

Age Group Awards:

• Categories: The awards will be for age groups, including 6 and under to 75 and up.
• Age Groups: 8-7 year olds, 9-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds, 13-14 year olds.
• Extended Groups: 15-17 year olds, 18-24 year olds, 25-29 year olds, 30-34 year olds.
• Further Categories: 35-39 year olds, 40-44 year olds, 45-49 year olds, 50-54 year olds, 55-59 year olds.
• Final Categories: 60-64 year olds, 65-69 year olds, 70-74 year olds, 75 and Up.

Post-Race Amenities:

• Food and Drinks: Post-Race food and drinks at our finish line festival.
• Timing: Chip Timed with Real Time Results.
• Note: Race-related items (shirts, medals, etc.) will NOT be mailed to those that do not attend and no refunds will be given.

The Course:

• Starting Point: We will start at the Summit Academy Junior High Track.
• Course Layout: Run one loop around the track, then onto the canal.
• Race Route: The majority of the race will be on the canal and finishing at the Junior High Track.

Packet Pick up:

• Option 1: Friday 3/27 2:30pm-5pm Packet Pick up in front of Summit Academy Junior High, 1550 W Summit Place, Chandler, AZ.
• Option 2: Habit Burger 3/27 5pm-7pm Packet pick up, grab your bib number and get in your protein and carbs! Habit Burger 1817 E Guadalupe Rd #102, Tempe, AZ 85283.
• Race Day Pick up: Morning 3/28 of the race starting at 6:30am.

Race Day Information:

• Device Policy: No roller blades, skateboards or motorized devices are allowed on the run or walk courses.
• Weather Policy: We run rain or shine. There are no refunds or transfer due to weather.
• Start Time: We will be starting promptly at 8am.
• Parking: Park in the Desert Oasis parking lot, Summit Academy parking lot or on the street where parking is permitted.
