Purpose

Peace Ridge is hosting their 4th Annual 5k Run for the Animals & 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, October 4, 2025, also known as World Animal Day! On this special day we will aim to raise awareness about animal welfare and promote the protection of all animals—whether they are pets, wildlife, or farm animals.

Event Description

• Family Friendly: This event will be held at PRS’s Northeast Equine Sanctuary located at the edge of Freedom and Albion Maine.
• Fundraising: This is one of the few fundraising events PRS holds each year, crucial for providing food, care, and medical treatment to rescued animals.
• Awareness: The funds raised will aid in rescuing more animals in need and support lifesaving work done daily by PRS.
• Animal Stories: Many of our animals have come from severe cases of cruelty, teaching us about resilience and forgiveness.

Location

LOCATION: The Northeast Equine Sanctuary is located on the border of Albion & Freedom, Maine amid lush green landscape mixed with fields and forests. There are endless stunning views surrounded by several gorgeous horses and ponies. By October this area will be bursting with beautiful warm fall foliage.

Race and Walk Details

• Course: The race features a 5k trail run (3.1 miles) and a 1-mile trail walk, open to all fitness levels.
• Scenery: Participants will run or walk through beautiful, natural scenery, winding along the enclosures.
• Animal Presence: Enjoy the calm presence of the animals as they go about their peaceful lives.
• Accessibility: Suitable for all fitness levels.

Event Activities

• Pre-Run Yoga: Outdoor Yoga for all levels and Animal Yoga for kids after the race.
• Food: Delicious vegan BBQ courtesy of one of our top sponsors Veggie Life.
• Fun Activities: Explore sponsor tables, corn-hole, scavenger hunts, and face painting.
• Prizes: Vegan friendly prizes for top fundraisers and 5K finishers, plus a raffle.

9:30 – 11:15 am: Check in opens
10:15 – 11 am: All-levels Yoga for Runners & Meditation
11:20 am: Announcements
11:30 am: Race Starts!
12 pm: BBQ will be up and ready
12:40 pm: Announcement for Quick reminders: Animal Yoga for Kids starting soon & Raffle Tickets still available till 1pm and check out all the sponsors!
