Scranton Half Marathon

Event Overview

The 14th edition of the Scranton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 4, 2027, beginning and ending at PenFed Credit Union Field at Memorial Stadium. The goal of the race is to provide a superior event highlighting the local area and in doing so, bring increased exposure and revenue for local businesses.

Race Start Times

• Half Marathon Run: 8:00 AM
• Half Marathon Walk: 6:45 AM

Run/Walk Category

We're pleased to offer a new run/walk category for the half marathon. Please select this option when registering if you plan on doing a combination of both running and walking on the course.

• Start Time: 8 AM with the run
• Timing: You will be timed as a runner
• Walking Option: Select the Half Marathon Walk tab if you will only be walking the course.

Half Marathon Cutoff Time

In the interest of safety and to allow city streets to reopen as scheduled, the racecourse will remain open to all participants who reach the North Washington Ave. and Olive Street intersection (roughly 8.3 miles) by 10:30 AM.

• Pace Requirement: 18:00 minute per mile for runners
• Pace Requirement: 28:00 minute per mile for walkers
• Course Closure: Participants unable to meet the cutoff time will be directed to turn right onto Olive Street.
• Finish Time: Will not be recorded for those directed off the course.

5k Run Cutoff Time

In the interest of safety and to allow city streets to reopen as scheduled, there will be a 50 minute cutoff time for all participants in the 5k.

• Pace Requirement: 16 minute per mile
• Finish Time: Will not be recorded for those unable to finish within the timeframe.

Virtual Events

Virtual Half Marathon Run and Virtual Half Marathon Walk will be held between April 3 and April 4, 2027.

• Cost: $55 includes bib, finisher shirt, medal, and finisher gift
• Swag Pickup: April 2 (5-8 PM) or April 3 (11 AM-5 PM)

Half Marathon Walk

• Start Time: Begins at 6:45 AM
• Chip Timing: Fully chip timed
• Finisher's Reward: Medal and Finisher's Gift
• Aid Stations: Begin with the mile 7.5 station

Kid's Fun Run

Participants will receive a bib and finisher medal. The 1/4 mile runs will start at approximately 8:30 AM on race morning.

• 1/4 Mile Fun Runs: Ages 5 - 6, Ages 7 - 8
• 1/2 Mile Fun Runs: Ages 9 - 10, Ages 11 - 12

Bib/Shirt Pickup

Friday, April 2 at the Race Expo from 5 to 7 PM, and Saturday, April 3 at the race expo from 11 AM to 5 PM. Also available on race day at Scranton Memorial Stadium from 6:00 to 7:30 AM.

Charitable Giving

The Scranton Half Marathon has given over $450,000 in its first eleven years to the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority for the beautification and safety of the city of Scranton.
