Save the date for our 19th annual event on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

What is the Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth?

• Event Options: Participants can register for a timed 5K run, timed 10K run, or untimed two-mile walk.
• Virtual Participation: A virtual option is available for those unable to join us in person.

Why do we do it?

• Community Support: Proceeds benefit local utility assistance programs for those struggling to pay their utility bills.
• Year-Round Need: The event highlights the need for utility assistance during the winter months, although it is needed throughout the year.
• Fund Administration: Funds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc.
• Assistance Distribution: Funds are split between M.U.D.’s Home Fund and OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program.

What are the details?

• Date & Location: Participants will gather on March 7 in Aksarben Village, Omaha, NE.
• Start Times: Timed events (5K and 10K) begin at 9 a.m.: the untimed 2-mile walk starts at 9:15 a.m.
• Award Categories: Awards for overall male and female winners in the 5K and 10K, along with age group awards.
• Virtual Option: Complete your registered distance in your neighborhood on March 7 (no swag or awards for virtual participants).
