A Legacy Continued. A Community Reunited.

Hey everyone,

There are traditions so special they become the bedrock of our community. For over three decades, the Chesterfield Alumni Run has been exactly that. It is the homecoming that kicks off our Thanksgiving—the one day each year we return to the course that holds so many of our shared memories to reconnect with the people who define our running journeys.

Last year, we celebrated an incredible milestone with the 30th anniversary. It was our 2nd year as caretakers of this event, and seeing the community show up in such force reinforced why we took this on: to ensure that the legacy built by the late, legendary Coach Stan Morgan and the original founders lives on for the next 30 years and beyond.

As we move into the 31st Annual, we aren't just maintaining a tradition: we are strengthening it. This Thanksgiving is your chance to be part of the next chapter of RVA running history.

🎉 A Tradition with a Purpose

To honor the spirit of the founders, this will always be a FREE community event.

However, we remain deeply committed to honoring the man who helped start it all. We are proud to accept optional donations for the Stan Morgan Memorial Award. As the longtime coach at Midlothian High School and a co-founder of this run, Coach Morgan’s impact is immeasurable. 🌅 What to Expect on Thanksgiving Morning

• The Ultimate Homecoming: Dig out those old school colors! This is the morning to reconnect with teammates, rivals, and friends on the starting line.
• The Historic 5k Course: We’re back on the classic XC 5k route at Pocahontas State Park—the same terrain that has tested generations of RVA runners.
• The Next Generation: The Kids' Fun Run is a staple. The first 50 youth finishers will receive the traditional and renowned Gingerbread cookie at the finish line.
• Post-Run Community: Stick around after your finish for giveaways and, more importantly, to spend time with the community that makes the Richmond running scene the best in the country.

• Time: 9:00 AM
• Location: Pocahontas State Park (Front field near the main entrance)
• Cost: FREE! (Registration is required)
• Registration: Opens April 27, 2026

It is a true honor to host this event and carry this torch for our community. We can’t wait to see the "sea of school colors" in the front field this Thanksgiving.

The XC 5k starts in the front field of Pocahontas State Park and follows the Dominion District XC Course route. The Kids' Fun Run will take place in the front field only.
