MTC Longfellow Frostbite 2.5K Run, 2.5K Walk or Virtual 2.5K Swim

🎉 Event Overview

• Celebration: Celebrate the 218th birthday of Portland, Maine's No. 1 bard, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
• Event Types: In-person 2.5K run or walk, and a unique virtual 2.5K swim. You can sign up for either or both!
• Date: The in-person event takes place on February 16, 2025.
• Supported Organization: Proceeds support Democracy Maine.

🏆 Awards and Prizes

• Runners/Walkers: New Running Shoes from Fleet Feet Maine Running Company and various awards for participants.
• Special Awards: My First Race Award for children under 10, Canine Look-Alike Award, and Victorian Winter Running Attire Award.
• Course Records: Cash prizes for male, female, and non-binary participants who break course records.
• Swimmers: A trophy plaque for the overall fastest male and female swim times.

🗓️ Race Day Details

• Registration: Raceday registration and bib pick-up from 7am–8:45am on February 16, 2025, at Equality Community Center.
• Awards Ceremony: Takes place at 10am on the same day at the Equality Community Center.
• Start/Finish Line: Located at the intersection of Congress and Casco Streets, opposite the entrance of Maine College of Art.
• Parking: Free street parking in downtown Portland on Sundays, but avoid parking on Congress St.

🌊 Virtual Swim Details

• Swim Requirements: 54.5 laps in a 25-yard pool or 50 laps in a 25-meter pool.
• Open Water: 2.5K open water documented as one continuous swim.
• Timing: Must be timed by a smartwatch or a race-approved swimming coach.
• Submission: Virtual results can only be reported on race day, February 16, 2025, between 9AM and 11:59PM.
