Race Details

• Date and Time: Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
• Location: 502 2nd St., Alamosa, CO

• Unique Experience: Conducted entirely on the frozen Rio Grande, this race offers spectators views of the San Juan’s to the West and Sangre de Cristo’s to the East.

Backup Racecourse

• Alternate Course: In the 11-year history of this race, there have been four instances of using an alternate course.
• Location: An alternate course utilizes the 30-acre pond at Blanca Vista Park and a portion of the levee trail system.
• Experience: Participants will still enjoy great views while running on ice/snow.

Footwear Recommendations

• Suggested Shoes: Running shoes with microspikes are ideal for traction.
• DIY Traction: A video to improve traction on your own shoes is available here.
• Alternative Options: Hiking boots or shoes with extra tread are also recommended.

Race Packet Pickup

• Chip Timing: This race is chip-timed and requires pre-race packet pickup.

  • Alamosa Senior Citizens Center on race day from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
