🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

Join us for the 14th anniversary of this special event in memory of Doug Williams who was a graduate of Montclair High School and a beloved member of the Essex Running Club when he was killed by a hit and run driver on Upper Mountain Ave in October 2011. Doug would have been 63 years old on May 22 2025. All of the proceeds from the event will go towards the memorial scholarships awarded every year in Doug’s honor to recognize two deserving college bound seniors at Montclair High School who have been outstanding in track and cross country while demonstrating academic excellence, leadership and community service.

👟 Participation Details

You can attend the in person event at Fleet Feet Montclair or complete the event virtually. People of all ages and abilities are welcome - runners/walkers, young/old, fast/slow. This is not a timed event, and the roads will be open to traffic.

• Virtual Option: Participate from anywhere.
• Raffle: Everyone who registers or makes a donation will be entered in a raffle for a $50 Fleet Feet gift card.
• Donation: Make a donation to support the scholarship.
• Accessibility: Open to everyone, regardless of experience.

🏞️ Routes and Refreshments

There is a special 8 mile memorial route passing by several landmarks in remembrance of Doug or two shorter routes (5K and 10K). Click on the links below to view the suggested routes. Maps and directions will be available on the day of the event. The 8 mile route will also be marked with flags at every turn.

• Route Options: 8 mile, 5K, and 10K routes available.
• Refreshments: Light refreshments back at Fleet Feet after the run.
• Water and Gatorade: Available on the 8 mile and 10K routes at the corner of Park St and Mt Hebron Rd.
