#HonorMark Initiative

The purpose of the #HonorMark initiative is to carry on a local hero’s legacy of service and sacrifice by giving back to the community he served through charitable donations.

Hero: Mark Edward Hummeldorf served in the Marine Corps and as a firefighter/paramedic.
Awards: Awarded the Purple Heart for bravery during service.
Legacy: Passed away on November 22, 2017, at the age of 33.
Family: Left behind a wife and two children.

Event Call to Action

Mark’s enthusiastic attitude and service before self would want us to put our running shoes on and join his family for our 8th annual event. This year’s event will be held at Daffin Park in the beautiful Midtown of Savannah! We are encouraging everyone to come together to celebrate and honor Mark and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Participation: Join us to walk or run, in-person or virtually.
Social Media: Share your times and pictures with #HonorMark5k and #SayTheirName.
Community Support: All proceeds go directly to the local community.

Impact of the #HonorMark 5K

#HonorMark strives to give back to the community and families of first responders and military in need.

Support: Able to support multiple families from our 2024 event.
Donations: $10,000 in donations were given back last year.
Beneficiaries:

- Vennemier Family, Ohio PD
- Chris Hicks, Veteran US Marine
- Nelson Laporte, Veteran US Marine and local police officer

FAQs

Packet Pick Up Options:

Thursday November 6th: Way Station Coffee from 10am-1pm, 10610 Ford Ave, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
Friday November 7th: Fleet Feet Savannah from 10am-6pm, 3405 Waters Ave, Savannah, GA 31404.
Timing: We use chip timing.
Shirts: Not guaranteed for registrations after 10/16/25.

Virtual participants will receive their packets via mail. They must register by October 16th, 2025.

Strollers: Welcome, but stay clear of other runners.
Course: 10k course will be the 5k run twice.
Kids Run: Max age to participate is 10 years old.
Restrooms: Royal Restrooms will be onsite.

Lastly, be sure to stick around after the race for awards, raffle, beverages and snacks, and a great time! There will be a bouncy house for kids also!
