Waterside at the Catawba Independence Day 5K

🎆 Welcome to the Independence Day 5K!

We are five weeks away from our first annual Independence Day 5K here in Waterside. A couple of quick notes:

📍 Race Route

• Route marked: One route that will be marked with red and blue cones and American Flags.
• Volunteers needed: Anyone that can help me set up the course would be appreciated.
• Golf carts welcome: Anyone that would like to have their golf carts helping make sure our runners stay safe and keep intersections clear as they pass would be appreciated.
• National Anthem: If anyone wants to volunteer to sing the National Anthem prior to the race, let me know.

👥 Support Our Runners

• Neighbors' participation: Would love to see y’all line the sidewalks in front of your homes and support our runners.
• Cheer loud: Play music, cheer, noisemakers. Show our neighborhood love.
• Route check: If your house is on it, just step outside and cheer.
• Finish line gathering: If your home is not on the route, come to the finish line or another spot on the course to watch and cheer on your neighbors.

🏃 For the Runners

• Dress code: Have fun. Dress in patriotic gear, run with American flags, ruck march, etc.
• Schedule: 7:15am check in begins at Hideaway Gulch Green space.
• National Anthem: 8:00am Welcome and course overview.
• Gold Star Run: 8:05am Gold Star Run begins.

🎁 The Giveaway

Instead of medals, we are going to do unique pins. At the end of the race, each participant will be given a lanyard (if you haven’t gotten one from the Turkey Trot) and will select an American Flag pin design of their choosing that can be pinned to the lanyard. Every race we do will have a unique pin. Collect them all and show off your Waterside race swag!
