Furry 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run 2025

🐾 Race Overview

Join us "for the love of the animals" on Saturday, September 27, 2025 for the Furry 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run at Generations Park! This race will benefit FOTAS.

🐶 About FOTAS

The Friends of the Animal Shelter – Aiken County (FOTAS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), volunteer organization created in 2009 to supplement the resources of the Aiken County Animal Shelter in the care of approximately 4800 homeless and abandoned animals consigned to its care each year.

• Funding: FOTAS is wholly funded by private donations.
• Mission: Support the Aiken County Animal Shelter by promoting animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and eliminating euthanasia for all adoptable animals.
• Impact: Before FOTAS, the live release rate was 9%: it is now 90% as of 2018.
• Goal: Continuously improve the number of animals saved, aiming to never euthanize adoptable animals.

🎉 Event Highlights

THERE WILL BE DOGS ON SITE FOR ADOPTION :-)!!! We will be taking food donations - dry and wet food for dogs and cats and toys!! If you bring your own furry friend to run with you, we will have dog treats for them as well. We encourage you to dress up your dog for the dog costume competition!! The winner will receive a gift card.

⏰ Schedule

• Packet Pick-up and Registration: 7:00-7:30 am
• 1-Mile Fun Run: 8:00 am
• 5K: 8:30 am
• Awards: 10:00 am

💵 Registration Fees

• 1-Mile Fun Run: $15.00 through Sept. 19th and $20.00 after September 19th (NOT officially timed).
• 5K: $25.00 through Sept. 19th and $30.00 after September 19th (officially timed).

T-Shirt 👕 Information

T-shirts are not guaranteed to participants who register after September 8th. Extras will be ordered but will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. Sizes include: YM, YL, AS, AM, AL, AXL, AXXL.

🏅 Timing and Awards

The 1-Mile Fun Run will not be timed events, however, a clock will be displayed. The 5K will be electronically timed by 2 Girls and a Clock, LLC. The overall male and female will receive a medal, along with the top three finishers in the following age categories: 12 and under: 13-19: 20-29: 30-39: 40-49: 50-59: 60-69 and 70 and above.

🏞️ Course Description

The race will be held at Generations Park - 1596-1652 Columbia Hwy N, Aiken, SC 29801. It is a certified cross country trail course with packed dirt/sand and loose sand along the course. Several inclines throughout the course.

📦 Packet Pick Up and Late Registration

Runners can pick up their race packet and register on Friday, September 26th at the Aiken County Animal Shelter on Wire Rd. from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. You can register and pick up packets on race day from 7:00 am - 7:30 am. Registration will close promptly at 7:30 am. We accept cash, checks, and credit.

❓ FAQs

• Strollers: ONLY FOR THE 1-MILE FUN RUN. The 5K course is a trail course and it would be extremely difficult to navigate a stroller.
• Dogs: YES as long as they are leashed and get along with other dogs.
• Walking: YES.
• Results: Posted on www.runsignup.com and 2 Girls and a Clock Race and Timing Services Facebook Page within 24 hours of the event.
